Getting washed

”Not bad eh?” That’s what I said to her. She smiled in agreement. It took a little bit of coaxing but I managed to catch a few face-on shots as well. In twenty years, you will thank me for it. :p Incidentally, this was K’s acoustic gig at Harry’s and Coco’s (Larrivee LV-03RE) debut at a live performance.

It was a little easier catching M at rehearsal. I stole her glasses right from under her nose. Or is it off her nose? You know what I mean.

Today, the both of them got baptised. Baptise is derived from the Greek word “Baptizo”. The whole gang was there. Just like a real family.

img_3033.jpg

The clearest example that shows the meaning of baptizo is a text from the Greek poet and physician Nicander, who lived about 200 B.C. It is a recipe for making pickles and is helpful because it uses both words. Nicander says that in order to make a pickle, the vegetable should first be ‘dipped’ (bapto) into boiling water and then ‘baptised’ (baptizo) in the vinegar solution. Both verbs concern the immersing of vegetables in a solution. But the first is temporary. The second, the act of baptising the vegetable, produces a permanent change. When used in the New Testament, this word more often refers to our union and identification with Christ than to our water baptism. e.g. Mark 16:16. ‘He that believes and is baptised shall be saved’. Christ is saying that mere intellectual assent is not enough. There must be a union with him, a real change, like the vegetable to the pickle!

…interesting :S So I am a pickle too! hur hur.

In all the years that I have lived with this cat, he has never voluntarily walked into my room. In fact, each time I grabbed him and brought him in, he would be yelling to get out. Then suddenly, Tigger was hanging outside my room and on occasion would walk in of his own accord!

Thanks to Jerry, I see my cat more often. In the above scenes, Tigger has his eyes firmly fixed on Jerry, who is out of frame.

Gideon Cup

In my head, I had grand visions of capturing players striking balls in mid-air, goalies diving acrobatically making miraculous saves and cheering fans stampeding the grounds in frenzied joy.

img_8181.jpg

Unfortunately, sports photography is ten times tougher than I thought. Knowing the game is essential to being able to anticipate the moves that will develop. Frankly, I had no clue when the next potential goal was going to be scored and spent many fruitless hours pointed in the wrong direction. Hats off to all you pro-sports shooters out there. Respect!

So instead, I bring you pictures of some handsome fellas.

G, you never fail to crack me up. Good game! hahahah

I was expecting leader’s lock-in to be serious, full of lectures and struggling to stay awake. It was quite the opposite actually. My first church camp ever and one of the most fun camps I have been too. It is a pleasure serving with you guys. Now that I am in your shoes…I feel it man! Really appreciate you guys. :)

Elmo’s friend

May 4th, 2007 by t6d · No Comments

img_5441.jpg

Elmo got a new friend recently. Trickle was first thought to be a mid-sized rat masquerading as a dog. We later found out that it was the other way around. My bad-ass cat still insists on the former and will chase her like a rat. Elmo and Trickle on the other hand are the best of friends. Just the other day, I saw Trickle using Elmo as a mattress.

Here, Trickle is seen to be what appears to be a goatee. Rat-masquerading dog with a goatee. I’m having trouble keeping up.
