A couple of weeks back, we had the pleasure of watching a small boy turn one. Such a photogenic little angel. Made our job very easy :) Here are more pictures of his birthday party.

Self-portraits

I bought a new camera the other day and here is its self-portrait. Much lighter than the 1d MkII and I like the fact that it fits into my pocket. Never know when you’re gonna be able to get a shot, like the one below I found while waiting for Tony to fix my ride.

If you own a Harley, look for Tony at Custom Cycles. He’s the man!

Today, I finally became convinced that photos don’t need to be sharp to be appealing. More accurately, that I could take out of focus pictures of mundane objects and be happy with them. All those late nights analysing test charts of different lenses to select the sharpest ones gone down the drain! :p

This reminds me of a philosophy class in college on Plato. What is the perfect example of a chair? If it had five legs, would it still be a chair? If it only had a surface to rest one’s rear one, is it a chair? These days, I tend to think that Plato had confused human constructs with the concept of “Forms”.There are probably very few if any “Forms”. Existence exists independently of how we classify ideas and items. Therefore, there is no perfect example of a chair because there is no such thing as a chair. There is however an item with four legs that we often use for the purpose of what we generally describe to be a “chair”.

Very fierce

“8.5 months in the making…now that I’m here, gotta act like I don’t care…”

His name is Ryken (”Very Fierce”). He needs to first prepare by resting.

Deep in thought I am, eyes closed not equals nap always…

Balloons are good, soft toys are good, milk supply hovering over you…priceless.

What the!?

On the left, we have Stalker-san (Tigger). On the right we have the target,  Jerry. This is not how stalking is normally carried out. Even Stalker-san has his off-form days. Gambatte-masho!

Introducing: Acro-cat

Tigger has been sleeping like this ever since he was a kitten. When I first chanced upon this pose, it was in the middle of the night. My house then had white marble floors. The faint glow of city lights and the poor contrast between cat and floor made it difficult to distinguish which way he was actually facing. As you can see from the above illustration, the answer was: both.

This is a picture from the reverse angle to prove that he really is sleeping!

And now, a close up for all observers interested in paw-suspension bridges. Integrity of the structure can be maintained for up to 5 hours. :p

Introducing: Rock-cat

February 18th, 2008 by t6d · No Comments

gl9f6578.jpg

It all started when Jerry took an extreme interest in my guitar. I made the fatal error of leaving my guitar case opened.  As I became engrossed in perfecting playing chords in different positions, Jerry hopped in and assumed the classic stomach-in, knees-tucked pose. I regret taking the moment to remark to myself “aw…he likes the furry cushioning of the case lining…” and allowing the bugger to leave a piss in before I could yank him out. Till this day, I am reminded of my mistake by the touch of “Essence de Chat” that remains in the case.

This cat appears to geniunely love music. Or noise. It all depends on your perspective. Each time I power up the amp and plug in the guitar, jerry gets up and sets himself down in front of the 12 inch speakers that you see in the back ground. I don’t play loudly but it is enough set your ears ringing at that distance.

So, here’s to introducing Rock-cat. Perched on a no-name pedalboard with a Boss DS-1 modded by gsonique to RAWR!

Introducing: Supar-mao

February 10th, 2008 by t6d · No Comments

gl9f6544.jpg

This is Supar-mao. Essentially, a feline superhero that is able to sleep for most of the day through any amount of noise.

The reason why jerry is wearing a coat is because he got sick and has developed an itch that did not go away. One day, we noticed that he was scrawny like a bag of sticks and was decidedly more bald than the puffed up, pomped up ball of furry glory that was strutting around the room just a month ago. We have since observed and confirmed that the baldness is a result of repeated scratching. Therefore, our ingenious solution is to cover the affected area until the hair has had a chance to grow back.

In summary, we have been praying for jerry everyday at every meal. He has grown fatter and furrier (as per our prayers) and I know that it is on account of his mother that God has shown mercy on this cat.

p.s. I assure, this is a bad angle. He does not look this strange in real life. Please refer to other posts for reference.

Desmond & Sophia

vl9f5800.jpg

Congratulations to Desmond & Sophia. These are two of the nicest, kindest people I know. God is proud of you. Keep on being a great example and an inspiration to the rest of us!

Here’s a little something that you may not know. I was asked to help out with the polaroids during dinner instead of shooting the church wedding. However, I thought I would have a much better excuse to walk around and to get close to the couple if I was shooting. Brilliant right? Beats sitting around on a pew 20 rows back!

Halfway through the shoot, I ran out of memory because I forgot to delete the previous batch of photos. So there I was, going through the pics one by one, clearing out the pictures that are destined for the bin, pretending to look all professional and serious. Suddenly, the camera decided to help me out and was creating space out of no where. I then realised, that it was auto deleting everything. Everything, including all that I had shot up until then.

It has been a long while since my heart has skipped a beat. I felt every moment of that nanosecond when time stood still and I saw the bride standing at the entrance waiting for her entrance.

To cut a long story short, I managed to recover the lost photos through a nifty program called PhotoRescue (you guys are a life saver, I will pay you the licence fees, eventually :S pardon me for the tardiness…).

So, here’s to a happy ending for everyone :). Check out the wedding pictures here and the reception pictures here

The moment

November 18th, 2007 by t6d · No Comments

gl9f5293.jpg

I was not expecting her to cry. She’s normally tough as nails and will look you in the eye without glancing away. There is something special about the moment when you give yourself away. All husbands should remember the look in their eyes when you told them that you would love them and stand by them no matter what.

“May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer; may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love.” Proverbs 5:18-19

Check out the slideshow of their wedding.
